Weekend Tour

Hi all
I am planning a Road Ride for a weekend away to Lamberts Bay up the West Coast. We would leave Saturday morning at 08h00 heading eastward and then northward and then westward to Lamberts Bay and return on Sunday after lunch. Total Kms would be 800 round trip all on tar (470 on Saturday & 330 on Sunday). Costs would be determined by the amount of people on the tour- it will give me bargaining power if there is a large number. This tour would take us through some fantastic scenery at a leisurely pace to enable all of us to enjoy it. We would stay at the Lamberts Bay hotel, right on the beachfront. Date is still to be confirmed. Possible dates are 16th/17th May or 23rd/24th May. Please reply either on the web or to me at bmessenger@telkomsa.net.

I plan on taking the ride from the Engen - Plattekloof on the N1 over Du Toits Kloof Pass, on through Worcester (stop for a quick snack – coffee??) and up the Hex River Pass towards Touwsrivier and then turn left 8kms before Touwsrivier. At the T-junction after 32 Kms we will again turn left towards Ceres. We then head north up to Citrusdal (maybe a lunch stop). From there we head north again on the N7 to Clan William. At Clan William we will head west to Lamberts Bay. The return trip will be down the west coast on tar all the way to Cape Town.

We need to get the numbers up before I confirm with the hotel in order to get prices for the bed & breakfast stay in Lamberts Bay.
At this stage it seems as if the accommodation availability is for the weekend 23rd & 24th May.

Once I have the numbers as well as confirmed dates and prices, I will be calling for payment. Details to follow.

Hi Brian, After advising that I'll be OK for either weekend, I've just heard that I have to attend a meeting in Johannesburg on the weekend 16th/17th. I'll therefore only be able to put my name down if it's on the 23rd/24th.

The costs for Lamberts Bay Hotel are R450.00 per room per night including breakfast. I am waiting for a dinner menu from the hotel and have been informed that it will be approx. R120.00 per person. As soon as I receive the set menu with options and hopefully a revised price (busy negotiating). It will be published here.
