To fit R1150GS or R1100.  This is for the black plastic pannier that comes standard with the older bikes.  I dropped the bike onto the pannier and the catch that locks the pannier onto the bike has broken off.  (The little black hook that comes out underneath the pannier and hooks onto the bike's bracket to lock the pannier in place.)

Apparently the whole mechanism needs to be replaced - the 'multi-function box' that is rivetted into the pannier - 1600 ronts new.  Has anybody dealt with this before?  This weekend I am going to dismantle it to see if I cannot somehow have the catch machined or somehow fixed.

Down from replacing a pannier

to replacing the 'multi-function box' that is riveted into the pannier.  This holds the handles and locking mechanism.

Pannier fixed

I got the clip that broke 're-engineered' out of aluminium.  Then it was just a matter of replacing it in the multi-function box mechanism (which is quite complex).  The job cost R500 for re-engineering, and I ended up with a spare locking tab mechanism for R400 from Atlantic.  So I saved R700 - or R1100 if I had not gotten the spare locking tab, but that at least came with a book describing how to dismantle the multi-function box so it is useful to have.
