- My first bike I owned was a Honda XR250 which I bought in the early 80's. After that came the Honda XL500S. I used them more for commuting than for off-roading. When you're an appy it's the only way to go. I bought a Honda 600RR Superbike in 2004 and did the whole track thing etc and had a lot of fun. I decided beginning of 2011 to buy something more upright and gumtreed the Honda and bought my 800GS. I am sooo happy with it. I thought about the TransAlp but decided I'd spend a few bob more and treat myself. I'm married, live in Melkbos with a 25yr old daughter and two dogs. Been here since '79 so seen many changes over the years. I'm in the printing industry and have been working from home for the past 5 years.
