Trial Report

The Cape Trials riders held a trial at Spes Bona this weekend.  The trial report and results are here.  We have a section for children riding the electric OSET trials bikes now also - our first competitor is a 6-year old called Timmy Graham.

Baviaans by two

This report covers a five day ride in March 2013 from Cape Town to Baviaans over a variety of roads – myself on a R1200 GS and my son, Jethro, on a KLR 650.

Last minute work and preparations led to an afternoon start with a firm plan to end up in Calitzdorp for the night, but looser ideas on how to get there.

Bonthuys Fun Trial

Last Sunday we had a fun trial at Welgelegen farm near Kraaifontein.  The trip report and video is here.

Fun Trial this Sunday at Bonthuys Farm

This Sunday 17 Feb at 9am for 10am start.

Plenty of prizes sponsored by Gordon Verhoef & Krause and Cecil Penney Racing.  There will also be lucky-draw prizes so no need to worry about getting on the podium.  There is a new floating trophy for the overall winner also.

Keen to come see what trials is all about, or even want to try your hand?  Come along to the fun trial day at Bonthuys farm at Klipheuwel.  If you want to ride, borrow a bike or join a friend and share.  The clubman sections are designed to test your basic riding skill, no potentially hurtful obstacles or ones that require absolute commitment are part of the clubman lines.

Trials Practice at Zonnebloem

Most Thursdays the Cape Trials riders meet at Zonnebloem School near District 6 for a bit of practice.  Every time I go there I end up learning a new skill.  See what I have managed to compose with my new Drift camera and a bit of spare time:

Three Day Non Club Offroad Ride

Bob Goode, Adrian Lee and I have been chatting about redoing some of Warren's rides. In particular the Swellendam - Gysmanshoek Pass - van Wyksdorp - Rooiberg Pass - Calitzdorp ride as well as the Wuppertal - Eselbank ride.

Bob and I are starting with the ride to Calitzdorp on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Feb.

Equipment Available on Loan

PeterO's picture

The club has items of equipment available for paid-up Club Members who are in need of them for a trip, but don't want to buy their own.

A few such items are a club laptop and GS-911 unit and I now have a few Motorola VHF radios available, thanks to Trevor Versveld.

I'm not sure which committee member has the laptop at the moment (Warren will know) and it will probably need cleaning up and the latest diagnostic software needs to be loaded before being loaned out again.

Anyone wishing to borrow a radio is welcome to contact me.

Kapteinskloof and back trip report

Eric McLaren's picture

A day trip which at one stage was going to be a solo turned out in the end a small group of seven bikes; myself, Neels Wilken, Adie Adendorf, Kevin Charleston, Adrian Lee and two newbies Justin Bransgrove and Llewellyn Truter.
