TECH TORQUE ; BLUE TOOTH RADIO DONGLES

Andyman's picture

Looking for your feedback on the Interphone 4 and the RADUS dongle for wireless radio coms.

Als the SENA SMH10 and the rADUS dongle.

I drafted a document for each of fAQ and easy operating.

Please help devlop it by feeding back your experiences.

I've found that unless you learn to use these sytems within their limitations, then wireless radio to headset systems can be so frustrating they get relegated to the bottom drawer along with all the gadgets you found 'useless'.

I have now found that after learning the right way to use the intergrated systems, I can finally enjoy reasonable hassle free coms

Advanced "OFF ROAD" ride Sunday 15th January with Geoff Russell - (Cancelled)

Africa/Johannesburg

The longer serving members will remember how often we had the Club's more ADVANCED Off Road Day rides and they were always very popular.

I have been receiving requests again to arrange another one. This ride will not suit beginners or even semi beginners. It is aimed at the above average rider.

The inevitable question I get is "how bad is the route"? Well not bad at all in fact it is merely that we leave Cape Town early in the morning (after a Wimpy breakfast) and we get home in the late afternoon/early evening and we stop very seldom along the way.

The December 2011 Malgas Dash

Andyman's picture

In Dec 2010, 5 adventure riders - James, Justin ,Wayne, Clayton and Andyman took off on the MIDDELPOS DASH.

An overnighter, camping at Oasis.

What a special ride.

Tra-Tra: a place for New Years celebration?

To answer the question: the TraTra drif is definately a place to celebrate: it is beautiful next to the river; sandy, soft camping site on the bank of the river, fantastic setting with a steep rock face occupied by a large troop of baboons, clean drinkable water, a waterhole to swim in and it stays in the shade until about 8am this time of the year.

WHAT's INSIDE YOU TANK BAG

Andyman's picture

My tank bag is my most useful pack on my bike.

I have a check list of items and a specific tray for all the contents.

I empty it after most trips ad reload for every trip.

So what's inside?

The three most important items by far are:

bag of cable ties of the 3 main sizes, + assortment of zip-lok bags, + a roll of duct tape.

- Then my Headlamp torch with some spare batteries

- Camera tripod

- a rescue strobe light (because I have them)

- puncture kit + 2 mushrooms. glue in a small can. The lid has a brush built in.

WHAT's INSIDE YOUR JACKET POCKETS

Andyman's picture

Just a few short years of campaigning have taught me, my jacket makes an excellent repository for essential items.

So what's in the jacket?

On the outside:

- on my sleeve by the wrist is a good plastic whistle

- on my main zip of mid-rif belt is my 'Medic Alert' disc

- on my left sleeve pocket is my driver licence and some essential phone numbers .

- in my rear kangaroo pouch is a pair of light sloppies (so that upon dismounting for a spell I can shed boots n socks and be comfortable in a jiffy (I also wear boxers or swim trunks so I can

The story of the ox wagon wheel in Lady Grey

Andyman's picture

Back in September 2011 The famous BMWMCCC East Cape Tour made it's last-but-one overnight stop in the small East Cape town of Lady Grey.

In the bike park, leaning against a pepper tree was this large wagon wheel in very good repair.

Donkey-kar shopping trip De Rust Friday 16th December 2011

Andyman's picture

Life is full of amazing surprises.

Nothing more so than  meeting Valentyn and Springveld once again in De Rust.

I was on the home leg of my long road trip to Gauteng,

Riding West on the R341 to De Rust.

As I was approaching the N12 on the East side of De Rust I saw a donkey cart loaded with fresh cut Lucern  approaching the turn onto the N12.

The pinkish faded paint of the donkey kar immediately made me take note.

I was already slowing to a crawl, because as all know, I love engaging the locals and donkey kar ryers make the most inte
