Second fun practise and riding day, Kalbaskraal quarry near Cape Town. 7 May 2011.(Full)
I have arranged with my friends with the private quarry in the Kalbaskraal area to take the second group of club members to their farm where we will spend the day practising different exercises with cones or just riding across the varied terrain on offer there.
The same arrangements re food and drink will apply and Marius will again provide ice and cool drinks during the day and braai boerie rolls for lunch for us.
We will meet in Cape Town, ride some back roads both tar and gravel to get there (approx 40 minutes) and then spend as long as you want riding and practicing in and around the quarry.
Same as last time I will ask for a small R75.00 donation from each bike to cover the cost of the refreshments and to contribute towards keeping the farmers drinking good brandy as a way of thanking them for letting us ride on their property. This can be brought with on the day.
If you are interested in a fun day of riding and practising, please reply to this post. I can only take 20 bikes.
Check here for how much fun the last day was:

Please can you put myself and Tian van Heerden on the list again. He will have his new toy so will be able to come along this time
Hey Warren, please put my name down :)
Hi Warren - please add Stan with 800GS
Hi Warren
Please put my name down.
Geoff
Please add me to the list - must practice more cones!
Karin and Gavin onto the list as well, please... I need to try jumping over the bigger hole this time, I think! Hmm, maybe also try some emergency recoveries on one of the steep slopes?
Hi Warren - me too please (Dakar).
Thanks,
Stephen Hall
Me too please , thanks Warren
I see that the list is filling up quickly with the names of folks that have been to the previous training that Warren organised at the quarry. Methinks the reason is they know what an absolute blast it is! To those of you that haven't done this training and are maybe wary of doing it, I would suggest you put your name down as fast as possible and do it, the time in the saddle and the skills learnt are invaluable for confident, comfortable off-road riding. If you're a newbie, this "playday" in the quarry is a must.
We have six places left.
But we will be away that weekend. :(
Pls put me down for the absolute blast as Jeremy puts it.

Hi Warren
I will be alone. Jane's mom is visiting from the UK. Jane has this misguided idea that parents are more important than riding.
Geoff
I assume everyone on this list is still coming. If you are not able to make it, please advise me immediately. I have assumed Stan will be off the list due to his accident.
We will meet at the Wimpy in Durbanville on the corner of Aurora and Burton Streets (almost right next to the Durbanville Race Course). they open at 08H00 so that will be our meeting time. This will obviously be for your own account. If you don't want breakfast at the Wimpy, please advise me as I have "booked" for everyone.
After breakfast we will head off on the Vissershok road and "warmup" on three bits of gravel before getting to the farm. Details on the day will follow there.
Please don't forget your R75.00 per person which I will ask you to give me at the farm.
There will be refreshments in the form of cooldrinks, cold water etc at the farm and we will obviously have lunch on the farm.
If you have any questions, you can contact me either by mail at warrene@savino.co.za or cell 0836030240.
Weather looks good so far, although the quarry might be a little wet in places which will give you another surface to sharpen your skills on.
Looking forward to spending the day with you guys.

Ok, so Tian van Heerden can't make it anymore again. His new eishpee has given up the ghost already. Someone can take his place. Sorry guys. I will be there though. Cheers
Rain rain stay away!!!!
Now that's rich coming from The Rain Man
Looks like the rain won't be coming on saturday, its pissing down the next few days though.
It will be fine, just remember, if a patch looks wet and slippery, it probably is.
Warren, what plans for the crusader Game at 17H00.
I have to be in front of a large screen with lots of beer for those 90 minutes.
Not negotiable.
Go Stormers Go.
As with last time, eveybody can leave whenever it suits them. Last time some guys left just after lunch for appointments they already had.
If you want to make some plans to watch the rugger somewhere, I'm keen.
Barrel Pub? My house? Geoff's house
? all nearby........
Hi Warren, please could you take Craig Versfeld's name off the list. Thanks Trevor.
My place is available.
Thanks so much Warren and Natalie for organising!
It always takes me a little while to feel right again but after the initial nerves I ended up having a blast! My fingers were sore, my legs and ankle were sore but damn it was fun! The mud also added an extra element of bum-wobbling fun!
I've put some pics up on Facebook for those that are interested:

Thanks Warren & Natalie for organising such a brilliant day. Great to be able to practice in such varying terrain without without the pressure of getting to a destination. I learnt so much just from watching others doing the various exercises. Looking forward to the next time.
