Riders years of experience
Name's John, just started riding, and really loving it. Originally wanted to start with something small like a Dakar, but things turned out differently and went straight for a GS.
Using it as a sunny weather commute bike, but once I more sure footed, looking to explore some gravel and possible neighboring countries, however, I'd like to explore SA more first!
As for the rest, keen photographer and outdoor enthusiast, camping, hiking, MTBing. Would rather rough it, than stay in luxury accommodation.
Hi all,
My name is Garth, I am married to Janine and have a daughter Meg.
I own an engineering business.
I enjoy the outdoors, off road driving(bikes and 4x4) and fishing.
Hi Annemarie, I spoke to you earlier. I am registering and paying the years fees for Robert as part of his birthday gift. Robert used to ride as a teenager in Germany but only started recently again and treasures his BMW 800 GS!! He has been resident in SA for 14 years and has his own business in Catering based in Cape Town. We live in Noordhoek and have a son of 10 years old.
Johann Gorgens
I like on-off road touring, seeing places I would otherwise not visit.
Hi I am Pierre Coetzer.
I am riding my 1200 GS to work and back everyday.
And I love every moment of it!
My name is Cecil Hill, married to Celesta, resident in the Helderberg (Strand) with two young adult daughters. I owned a road bike in a former life, but have just recently acquired the Adventure, as the second step towards fulfilling a lifelong dream of both Celesta and myself, to experience the sights, sounds, touch and tastes of Africa in the best way possible - on motorcycles. Our immediate goal is to learn and develop the skills necessary to undertake such a journey starting, roughly, around 2015.
Mwendo - the name of my bike - is a kiSwahili word with several English translations, including: voyage, journey (safari), travel, movement, speed, course and my personal favourite, "means of getting there"!
Hi,
I haven't ridden regularly in years and it's time I started again. I've fallen totally in love with the older BMWs and am looking for a bike at the moment.
I look forward to hanging out on the forum and meeting riders.
Evan
Mark Baggott, married two kids, rode bikes a long time ago. back in the saddle on a BMW GS1200ADV upgraded from 800.
I am an avid mountain biker and decided to try adventure riding.Bought my first bike ever F800GS at the age of 47, now i cant get enough.Have been happily married for 20 years to Sian Versfeld and we have a beautiful daughter, Megan who is 19 years of age.
I own a video production company called Libra Vision Studios.Life can be stressful at times and therefore i use the mountain biking and adventure riding to keep the balance.
Sian and myself are planning to enjoy the great outdoors for many years to come.
I am the sales executive for Hamman Motorrad and have grown very fond off the brand over the last 9 months of my employment. As with many guys my age I perceived BMW as an "Old Toppies" bike, but after experiencing the brand and its followers i soon came to relies that I am involved with an adventuress, exciting and Youthful product. BMW for life.
I have only ridden cruisers since starting to ride motorbikes in my mid 40"s two years ago. I have done many tours and tousands of kilometres and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband has a cruiser as well as BMW GS1200. we would like to do some off road touring but I need to get confidence in riding a GS as well as off-road conditions. We have bought a lower seat for the GS so that my short legs can reach the ground. I would like to attend one of the training sessions as an observer if possible before venturing the course myself.
