Jurg se Kaya 2011 trip report

KarinP's picture

"Be afraid. Be very afraid." It was the pre-trip get-together at Geoff's house, and Geoff had the floor. And no, Geoff was not talking about the sandy parts of the trip - it was the strafdoppe he was warning us about. But more about that later.

The trip to Jurg se Kaya on the West Coast is one of those 'must do' trips on the club's calendar. This year was no different, and the trip filled up within a matter of hours.

West Coast Crayfish Nov2008

This was to have been a trip I missed, but at about 4.30 pm on the Friday...(it had been a hellava week) I phoned Geoff whilst driving out of Stellenbosch with my staff in the Kombi, and miraculously he answered,...short chat: ...may I ride up tomorrow morning and join the group...Geoff: "I'll call you tonight". He phoned and gave me the go-ahead so I was up till a bit after midnight getting ready...aiming for a 4am departure, well was away by 4.20 into light rain/ heavy mist? The initial ride on the N7 was slow due to the poor visibility caused by the mist and my fear of back-ending an unlit vehicle.

West Coast Adventure Tour - Sep 2007

Hi Lovies - Brenda here. Let me tell you about my 100 thousandth birthday spent on a trip up the West Coast. The tour was organized by Geoff (my hero) and was combined with the Offroad Adventures Motorcycle club - led by Greg Van Der Reis. I got to chat with a lot of new faces - not just the grey and silver BMWs - bright red KLRs, orange KTMs, a dapper black Yamaha XT. By the sounds of things Charles enjoyed the people that came with those bikes too... ==Day 1: Swartland 1-Stop, Vanrhynsdorp, Bitterfontein, Kotzesrus, Silverdoos== Anyway, it started early on Saturday morning, and I got quite a shock when I discovered that Julie was coming too. Charles had a really tough time of it in June when he did this tour, and I didn't think he would be able to look after me and his wife judging by his last performance.

June 2007 West Coast Trip

From the archives - This report took such an enormous amount of time to compile, reduce photos etc, I thought it worth putting on the new site, to wet your appetites for the September 07 West Coast Trip. Oh yes, I added a few extra photos! The BMWMCC West Coast Tour June 2007 has ended. Everyone survived in good health and some minor scrapes n bruises. The group split up for the rides to their respective homes at 16H15 on Sunday at the Vlakvarkgat bush pub on the R27. Most of the hardware came back intact but there are some bikes with some eina minor damage that adds up to a wack on the wallet. Ja, die manne van staal se staal het toe bietjie seergekry!
