Cape Town

On Monday the 1^st March, in the soft light of the rising sun, I was threading my way through the early morning peak traffic to meet another three riders who had been attracted to the same folly.  This was to ride through all of SA’s nine Provinces.

This report covers a five day ride in March 2013 from Cape Town to Baviaans over a variety of roads – myself on a R1200 GS and my son, Jethro, on a KLR 650.

Last minute work and preparations led to an afternoon start with a firm plan to end up in Calitzdorp for the night, but looser ideas on how to get there.

And then I got there, and I had asked if they could give me a scooter as loan bike…

Picked up scooter… you pay the fuel.

This is not quite a ride report and I know most of you see it every day. But does one really “seeee” Table Mountain?

"Drive on unpaved road." These are magical words when they appear at the top of your GPS screen, and in the trip that Gavin and I did last week from Cape Town to Prince Albert, this was pretty much all I saw for the majority of the day. Little did we know when we left Cape Town that our GPS has an evil sense of humour and that she sometimes has a rather inventive interpretation of 'unpaved road'.

This is not a club event, but rather part of an awareness campaign "ride for the environment'

Ride for the Environment is a fun rdie to help punch home the message for a cleaner environment and carbon footprint awareness.

Group ride on Sat 22 Oct begins at 09h30 at Parlaiment and follows a route through CT and the V&A ending at the Mouille Point lighthouse.

Normal club meeting held at the Multi Motor Club clubhouse, Jan Burger Sports Ground, Parow North.  These meetings take place at 20:00 on the last Tuesday of each month. (If a month has more than four weeks which could lead to five Tuesdays in that month, then the meeting is held on the last, ie 5th, Tuesday).
