This report covers a five day ride in March 2013 from Cape Town to Baviaans over a variety of roads – myself on a R1200 GS and my son, Jethro, on a KLR 650.
Last minute work and preparations led to an afternoon start with a firm plan to end up in Calitzdorp for the night, but looser ideas on how to get there.
1. Must go to East London
2. Can fly for quick visit
3. Can use Car
4. WILL use bikes.
5. Will include more Dirt roads
6. Will camp and stay with friends
7. Will leave Wednesday and be back Monday night.
did this happen -NOOOOO
1. We (Marinda and I) did go to East London
There and back again: The Garden Off-Route, the Baviaanskloof and Route 62; I even managed to get nailed!
