Breakfast Ride - Tulbagh - 29 Jan 2012
Hi all,
After the weekend’s great ride to Greyton, let’s add another Tar ride, this time to Tulbach.
Ride Details
Destination: Things i Love - Tulbagh
Meal: Breakfast
Ride Cpt: John Geldenhuys (082 938 2525)
As this is summer, and the sun does make its presence felt earlier, if everyone who will be joining could be at the meeting spot and ready to depart by 07h30am.
The Venue:
Things I love restaurant in Tulbagh not only caters for those who are looking for food that tantalises the taste buds but it also sports a deli, wine shop and a gift shop filled with little treasures.
Tulbagh, originally founded in 1804 has had a rough old time, in 1822 the town was almost completely destroyed in a storm and again in 1969 when an earthquake struck the town. To date Tulbagh boasts the largest number of Cape Dutch, Edwardian and Victorian monuments in a one street, Church Street, in the entire South Africa.
The Menu:
On the breakfast table we have: Bacon, sausage, egg, tomatoes, mushrooms and your choice of toasted ciabatta, croissant or bagel and coffee.
The Route:
The ride out to Tulbagh will see us meandering through the Wellington wine lands before we ride over one of South Africa’s most historic passes, Bain’s Kloof Pass. Bain’s Kloof Pass is immensely beautiful, but don’t let its beauty distract you from safely navigating the pass! This will be stressed again prior to departure.
Coming back, for those wanting to get home straight can do so via the R44. Others may join me, returning via Riebeeck Kasteel / Malmesbury and coming in via Blouberg Beach.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
