BMWMCC Cape GS Quarry Day, Saturday 28 January - some more excellent pics added.
I have arranged with my farmer friends with the old quarry in the Kalbaskraal area to take another group of club members to their farm where you can spend as long as you want practicing what ever you want across the varied terrain on offer there.
This is your opportunity to brush up on anything you feel you need to without the pressure of getting to a destination or convoy riding, very relaxed and all in your own time. We will have cones there, there are uphill’s and therefore downhill’s, some sand, maybe some mud, some rough stuff, some smooth stuff…..you get the picture.
We will also have an accredited BMW instructor with us to set up and demonstrate a few exercises, give advice and help, and point out things he sees that you are perhaps doing wrong or could improve on etc. All very informal and relaxed.
The same arrangements re food and drink will apply and Marius will again provide ice and cool drinks during the day and braai boerie rolls for lunch for us. This time we will also have our club gazebo for shade at the venue.
We will meet in Cape Town, ride some back roads both tar and gravel to get there (approx 40 minutes) and then spend the morning riding and practicing in and around the quarry. You are welcome to leave any time you like after lunch.
Same as last time I will ask for a small R75.00 donation from each person to cover the cost of the refreshments and lunch and to contribute towards keeping the farmers drinking good brandy as a way of thanking them for letting us ride on their property. This can just be brought with on the day.
If you are interested in a fun day of riding and practicing at your leisure, please reply to this post.
Numbers will be limited to about 25 people for catering purposes.

aaah man... only saw this now. Please add my name to the waiting list.
Warren - I was tentative about Julie coming with me, but she is now a definite! So it's me and her please if you had not counted her before.
The farmers don't mind, and the quarry is big enough, so the final list of people that want to go is as follows, no more waiting list. Please, if you cannot attend anymore, let me know immiediatly as we need to plan and purchase food for everyone. We are now also very lucky to have two competent instructors with us for the morning. Both Arno Roussouw and Rony Desodt have offered their services to be around to help and give advice. Please remember your R75.00 which you can give to Natalie at the rendezvous.

Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum, and my Dakar in general but I'm keen to join in if novices are welcome?
I do come from a Mountain Biking and Cycling background so I've picked up fairly quickly (I think) a fair level of confidence on my little 650.
Please let me know / add me to the list?
Hi Warren, is there place for one more, my buddy, Brent Laaks (F800GS) would really like to join us?

So, whislt getting ready for bed, I mention to my better half how awesome its going to be get some saddle time in at the quarry. At this point, she bolts straight up, like a character from a horror movie that has just come alive and gives me the look, followed by say again?
At this point I realised I had forgotten something....my boys Birthday party (belated).
Sorry guys, I will be running around with a bunch 6 year olds on a farm, trying not to be the target for them!
So, enjoy it! Will be there in spirit!
Grrr
