BMW MCCC Beginners Off-Road Overnight Ride to Middelplaas - 1&2 Sept 2012 (list added)
To all off-road Beginners
We have decided to put together a weekend getaway specificly for beginners to off-road riding. We discovered a fairly unknown gem of the Klein Karoo between Laingsburg and the picturesque Seweweekspoort, nestled between the Swartberg Mountains in the Vleiland Valley with spectacular views and tranquil surroundings.
Bertha and De Vos will spoil us with their hospitality in true Karoo fashion. The guesthouse and other accommodation forms an integral part of their commercial farming set-up, giving u the feeling that you are actually out farming for the weekend. Apart from luxury bedrooms, all linen & towels included, I can assure you that Bertha's catering from her farm kitchen, homely atmosphere and spontaneous personality will make u feel like family.
Date: 1 & 2 September 2012
Accommodation available: 16 persons as follows:
Guesthouse:
- Main bedroom with double bed & en-suite (preferably a couple).
- 3 bedrooms with 2x single beds per room (2 persons sharing)
- 2x sleeper couches in lounge area (2 persons sharing)
Other facilities for you convenience: Second bathroom (shower & bath) and guest toilette. Fully equiped kitchen.
Other accommodation:
- 1x Stoep room with 2 single beds (2 persons sharing)
- 1x cottage with 2 rooms; 2 single beds per room (4 persons sharing)
ONLY 16 PERSONS CAN BE ACCOMMODATED!!!!. So, if you snooze, you are definately going to loose. Please note that preference will be given to beginners that are paid-up club members.
Costs: R350 pp (Dinner,Bed & Breakfast)
As u would have noticed, this weekend kicks off the beginning of Spring. Due to the severe cold and heavy snow falls during this winter, the locals expect the flower season to start earlier. We might just be lucky to experience this wonder of nature.

You guys are about as far from beginners as I am!!!!!!!!!!
Come guys give the beginners a chance!!!
Hi Neels,
Two me me too please - I have mailed you...
Rick-
We all pay our fees , Guess we can choose what rides we want to go on.
Thanks
Wayne
I agree Wayne but when the invite says beginners and you are not a beginner it is not fair on people that are.
If there is not enough interest from beginners then I suggest it is fine to fill it useing experienced riders.
I am so tired of seeing Bikes and Bodies getting damaged on rides time and time again.
SO I have 2 Choices to do a Beginner Ride IF I WANT 2
or Plan and DO my OWN RIDES where I am in Control of the ROUTE without Surprises.
If THATs a PROBLEM let me know ???
Please put my name down if there is space. Thanks!!
This sounds like a great opportunity to get the grasp of the gravel. will let you know as soon as possible. great to see that there are still clubs that nvite beginners to their out rides. normally the "EXPERIENCED" guys like to take over the show and put beginner riders off hence they end up never enjoying their new toys!
Have emailed you. Thanks.
Hi Neels,
groete
Garth
Neels
I am keen to join this ride. As it will be my very first off road ride I will be on my own and looking to share accommodation.
Thanks again for being our noble leader on the tar this weekend- much appreciated.
Geoff, point taken. If the ride is over subscribed with beginners I will bow out.
Spoken like a true gentleman!

Just a while ago you were a beginner, and now look at you - this is what the club is about.
You Gents can be so funny at times
Got 2 to love it !

If ever I become a selfish CHOP or just dont READ very well or think the club belongs to ME. Please put me in my place and TELL me to GO AND RIDE ON MY OWN. A club only succeeds with commited members that also encourage new people to join the ranks. Thanks Neels for a great initiative.

Wayne - thanks for referring to me as my buddy - I am generally a polite and friendly kind of guy. I do however have a few firm fews and those are generally for the better of my country, company, neighbourhood or club I belong to. We live in a country where it is becoming the norm for a few elite to scoff the whole pie amongst themselves. If this is what the BMW club is about I want no part of it. I am new here and perhaps I should sit quietly in my box - but sorry I will in my way try and make the club a better place for all members. Being new some of the other new members have referred to the club as being " a bit clicky". This has not been my own observation because I have known some of the main manne on the stage for a number of years already. "A club only succeeds with commited members that also encourage new people to join the ranks."
So I believe that if a beginners ride is being organised give them first bite at the cherry - then by all means if space is available fill it with the old faithfuls that have dutifully supported the club over the years. Other members have said as much.
These are my views that I believe are best for a better club for all - nothing personal - not directed at any specific individual.
I look forward to having a beer and a laugh with you and to continue to refer to you as my buddy.
Is daar nog plek oor??
It sounds like you are describing our monthly club meeting on the last tuesday of the month at the multi-motor club. Cash bar, braai, meeing and greeting. Last night's one was especially entertaining, and I met some interesting new people and chatted to some old friends.
